Deer on Nature Trail

Deer on Nature Trail So many of the nature pictures along our Nature Trail look natural and it is difficult at times to realize just how close the Nature trail is to the wildlife. But when a three deer cross the trail right in front of you, it all comes together.

You can't ever tell from day to day what you might run into on the trail. The best insurance is to always carry a camera - preferrably with a long lens. In our early years, on a day when I wasn't ready, a young deer leaped the full width of the trail some 30 yards in front of us. Ever since then I have been waiting for a similar opportunity. We came upon this deer, and two others, quite suddenly and not wanting to spook them slowely backed up so they were not afraid to cross and so we could get an environmental shot of them crossing the trail.
