Web Portfolio
For Family Eye Care of Apex in Apex, North Carolina, we built a content management site that can be updated as new services are added and the company has expanded. The doctors in this practice wanted patients to have an easy on-line way to get information about specific eye conditions such as cataracts and low vision. The site also includes the capability to download patient forms, order contacts and glasses on-line, make on-line payments and schedule appointments. The site has google maps to the office location, google search within the site and search engine optimization.
We have done extensive web consulting for Duke Global Health Institute's large, complex Expression Engine content management website, including building out new sections, integrating features such as video, helping to resolve navigation conflicts and other troubleshooting and general consulting. We also have provided photography for the Institute. In this example, we provided this calendar solution for the institute to display events and filter them according to attendees.
We converted the website for Oriental Health Solutions, an Oriental medicine practice, to an Expression Engine content system to allow the practitioners to add and edit content to the site as needed. We also added a Flash introduction. Since the conversion, we have provided on-going maintenance, search engine optimization, and other features such as video, sound and an on-line patient questionnaire.
We designed and built this Expression Engine website for a large Day of Service humanitarian effort carried out in 15 states across the American South. The website is a hub for service projects in communities that helps coordinate about 50,000 volunteers from different organizations. Volunteers in each community log into the internal part of the website and insert information about their community's service projects on a calendar. The website also has an internal section with template flyers, logos and other materials that volunteers can use to publicize their service activities. The website has organized volunteers in hundreds of communities to clean up neighborhoods and school yards, assist homeless, paint and repair homes for disabled veterans, hold food drives and do other humanitarian work. The site has a section for news reporters to get information about the Day of Service and download news photos. The site has received more than a half million page hits all over the United States and Canada.
The organizers of this annual exhibit of nativity scenes in the Southeastern United States wanted an easy way to sign up hundreds of volunteers to loan nativity scenes and help with the event. We created this robust site, which includes a comprehensive sign-up form that enables volunteers to sign up for a variety of tasks at once. The information is collected internally in sortable spreadsheet reports. The website also has an on-line invitation, google map location capability, press page where media photos and information can be downloaded, slide shows, an event calendar and an internal log-in area where organizers can upload and edit content. The website is used for five different nativity events and is expandable. It received 20,000 page hits in 41 states, Canada and Latin America in December 2010. We also designed invitations, posters and signage and took publicity photos.
This author’s site was created for J. Lloyd Morgan, a writer of young adult fantasy novels. He wanted a site that would enable him to promote his books, have a blog and publicize his writing-related activities. The site design was made so that the website can easily be adapted visually as he adds future books. The books cycle through a carousel display that reveals a synopsis of each as they come to the fore.
We built this Expression Engine site for an accountant and author to provide a large amount of information on personal finance. He easily manages and uploads the content himself. The site has a three-tiered navigation with a directory of main topics on the home page. Clicking on a top opens a sub-directory page with links to articles on personal financial planning.
We built this Expression Engine website for Patty Vision Centers, a group of eye care centers in North Carolina. It includes sections for each eye care center, sections for news about new frame styles, downloadable forms, information and FAQ sections, flash presentations, and google map capability. The doctors are able to easily upload and update the site's content. It has accessibility features such as the ability for low vision patients to enlarge the font size.
This internal organizational church website, Miracles of Public Affairs, is a resource site for hundreds of volunteers throughout the Southeastern United States who provide publicity and help organize service projects, Christmas nativity exhibits, and other public events for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The site has accordion-style basic training sections, information on how to organize events, blogs for volunteers to post information, an event calendar and forms for volunteers to submit information about their service activities. The site content is provided and maintained by volunteers.
We built this Expression Engine content management website for Grace Bible Fellowship, a non-denominational, multicultural church in Cary, North Carolina. The site has multiple blogs, an event calendar, google map capability, a photo gallery and a video gallery of sermons in addition to several resource pages. Its content is maintained and updated by non-technical staff and volunteers.
